Brussel sprouts with bacon and maple syrup

I'm used to seeing brussels sprouts show up later in the year, but ran across a good buy on them down at the carpentino bros farm stand in Kent, WA. They were selling them whole on the stalk, as shown. I've already eaten some of them off the bottom of this stalk, and the recipe is below.

Serves 2 or 4:
1lb brussel sprouts
2 pieces bacon
1/8th cup maple syrup

Fry bacon until crisp in a large frying pan
Cut sprouts in half and add to bacon and drippings in pan
fry for a few minutes until some softening is observed
Add maple syrup, toss until covered
Serve warm with a sprinkle of kosher salt

Add some sliced almonds to your pan of brussels sprouts :)
